You may run across a situation in your Access Programming where you receive the Month in an alpha format - such as Jan for January (1), Feb for February (2), etc. You may also need to store that field as a numeric value in your database. There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but this approach uses a little VBA code to create a translation sequence based on the abbreviation.
Below we have a function where the Month is passed in as an abbreviated text string and the function returns the numeric value associated with that abbreviation.
To get the full month name (January, February, etc.) from a date formatted field - you can use the below function.
